Steam Custom Info Box: templates and formatting
The “Custom Info Box” showcase is a title and a block of text on your profile. With formatting tags, symbols and Steam emoticons it can look like a card, a list or a terminal. Showcase Maker has hundreds of ready layouts with a preview at Steam’s exact width.
Step by step
- Open Text showcases
In Showcase Maker open “Text showcases” → “Custom Info Box”. Templates come in styles: cards, lists, ratings, terminals and more.
- Pick a template and fill it in
Click a template, type your nickname, games or links into the form. The preview shows how Steam will wrap the text.
- Copy the text
Press Copy. The result uses Steam’s own tags: [h1] headings, [b] bold, [i] italic, [u] underline, [strike], [spoiler], [hr] lines and [url] links.
- Paste it into Steam
Profile → Edit Profile → Featured Showcase → choose “Custom Info Box”, paste the title and the text, press Save.
Common questions
How long can the text be?
Steam does not publish an exact limit; about 8,000 characters is the figure the community uses. Long text gets a scroll bar on the profile.
Why do some emoticons not show?
Steam shows only emoticons the profile owner owns. Others appear as plain text.
Can I put a picture in the info box?
Not as an image, but “Dot art” turns a picture into a drawing made of braille symbols that you paste as text.
