Steam artwork size: 630 px, 506 + 100 px and 5 MB — every showcase
Steam does not publish these numbers: they follow from how the profile page lays showcases out. Files of another width get scaled, and parts cut from one picture stop meeting at the edges.
| Showcase | Files | Width of each file | Height | Limit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Workshop | 5 | 150 px (a 750 px picture cut in five; Steam shows each at about 122 px) | any — tall files make a long showcase | 5 MB each |
| Featured Artwork | 1 | 630 px | any | 5 MB |
| Artwork with a side panel | 2 | 506 px + 100 px | the same for both | 5 MB each |
| Workshop squares | 5 | 150 × 150 px | 150 px | 5 MB each |
Step by step
- Choose the showcase
Decide where the picture goes: five Workshop panels, one Featured Artwork or Artwork with a side panel.
- Get files of the exact size
Add any picture, GIF or video to Showcase Maker and pick the showcase type. It scales, cuts and names the files to the sizes in the table.
- Check the cut on the preview
The preview shows the parts with the same gaps Steam leaves between them, so you see what lands on each edge.
Common questions
My picture has another size
That is fine: the site scales it to the showcase width, and you choose the visible area.
Does the height matter?
Steam keeps the height of the files, so a tall picture makes a long showcase. For animations the 5 MB limit is what limits the height.
Why exactly 5 MB?
It is the largest artwork file Steam accepts. Showcase Maker fits every finished GIF under it.
