How to make an animated Favorite Guide showcase on Steam
The “Favorite Guide” showcase shows a guide’s picture, title and description. The picture can be an animated GIF, square or a long strip, and the title and description can be styled with symbols. Showcase Maker makes both.
Step by step
- Make the cover
Open “Guide cover” in Showcase Maker, pick one of 99 templates, add your picture and press “Make the GIF”. The file is 320 px wide, under 2 MB and ready for Steam.
- Copy the text
Under the cover, pick a title style and a description layout and copy both fields.
- Create a guide
Open the Community Hub of any game you own → Guides → Create Your Guide. Paste the title and description and upload the GIF as the guide picture.
- Save the guide
Add a short section if Steam asks for one and save the guide.
- Pick it on your profile
Profile → Edit Profile → Featured Showcase → “Favorite Guide”, choose your guide and press Save.
Common questions
Why did my long strip turn into a square?
Steam crops a picture to a square unless its last byte is 0x21. Showcase Maker sets it; do not re-save the GIF in an image editor.
How big can the GIF be?
Steam publishes no exact limit for guide pictures; users report about 2 MB, so the tool fits every cover under 2 MB.
Is it free?
Yes. One cover counts as one file of the daily limit (5 a day without an account).
